A good all-rounder, Adam has already built up impressive portfolio experience, despite only graduating from Northumbria University in 2013.
Having spent his year out at Projex working largely on the rapid acquisition, fit out and turn around of several sites across the UK for an American retailer, he gained valuable experience assisting senior staff relating to the construction of a major London mixed-use development, as well as due diligence across a number of projects in the office and retail sectors.
After graduating from University, he joined a large national/international practice where he spent two years honing his building surveying and project management skills across a variety of sectors including the different services of contract admin, dilapidations, due diligence, surveys, re-instatement cost assessments, as well as project management.
Favourite Project: St Paul’s House, Leeds
The refurbishment of this well-known, prestigious Leeds landmark, a conservation officer’s favourite, involved challenging timescales when a tenant came forward earlier than expected:
- Full consultancy provided from client acquisition through to tenant fit outs and total refurbishment. The process involved initial building surveys, reinstatement costs, dilapidations for existing tenants and full tailor-made fit outs and refurbishment for a new tenant.
- Very tight timescales were involved when the client unexpectedly found a new tenant for two floors of the building, 25,000 sq ft, shortly after acquisition. This involved rapid mobilisation of contractors and ongoing liaison with the ingoing tenant to ensure a smooth and successful handover within a few months.
- A major part of the project involved replacing the Mansard roof system to create uninterrupted views across the city.
- A little known fact is that the minarets adorning the building are actually fibreglass rather than masonry as the original structures were taken down during the last refurbishment in the 1970s.
