The works consisted of the replacement of curtain walling, windows, external doors, removal and replacement of cables and lighting, signage and birdboxes. The ventilation systems in the kitchens were upgraded together with the refurbishment of the fire escape stairs at the gable end of the building. The original windows and curtain walling to Block A at Parkside Academy had for sometime been failing and were well beyond their useful lifespan. The Academy had unsuccessfully applied three times for capital funding to assist with a full replacement. However, when Eddisons Ltd assisted Parkside Academy with their fourth CIF application in 2017, they were notified in March that year that funding had been approved. A large element of design and survey work had already been undertaken at that point so the whole scheme was tendered and a contractor procured so that works on site could commence in June; this enabled taking advantage of the six week summer holiday period for the erection of scaffolding to the whole of the three storey building. Works were completed on site by mid October 2017.
