Cotswold Property with outstanding views
Cotswold Oak Limited
South Hill is one of the two Cotswold properties constructed on the edge of the escarpment overlooking the village of Long Compton and long ranging views over Warwickshire. The nearby Rollright Stones sit on the top of this elevated ridge.
Located on the extreme southern tip of Warwickshire bordering onto neighbouring Oxfordshire the property celebrates its Cotswolds location by the attention to details expressing the historic core design detailing almost unique to the area. The property is stone built using locally quarried stone with locally sourced dressed stone to punctuate the elevations and window surrounds. Traditional stone parapets typically define the Cotswold roofs, with bespoke chimneys designed to reflect the neighbouring village to the principle wing of the building. Dressed stone also provides a focal entrance to the property with portico surround and canopy. The joinery is hardwood and finished in a Cotswold colour – unique to its Midlands setting.
The external landscapes reflects the essence of the design with traditional dry stone walling enclosing garden and patio areas. Cotswold stone external steps are also incorporated into the gable of the smaller wing building to mirror agricultural heritage. The level of finishes is extremely high and the design team set out to specifically feature the central staircase serving the three levels of the main residence. The contemporary flights of stairs are complimented by the glass and stainless steel balustrade which is contained around the generous open landing area at each level.
