Working in partnership with architects Corstorphine + Wright, we are providing Principal Designer services on the £50m Retail Development scheme at Waterloo Station.
The new proposals will provide the opportunity to reuse an award-winning building which has been closed since Eurostar services moved to St Pancras in 2007 and will deliver modern retail and station facilities to complement the existing facilities at Waterloo International. The site comprises former Eurostar departures, arrivals and car parking levels. These proposals sit alongside Network Rail’s plans to enhance capacity at Waterloo Station by bringing disused platforms back into regular use.
The design strategy seeks to activate redundant street frontages and improve the public realm and connectivity. We will create a distinct and visually attractive environment by introducing features such as ceilings with glass sculptures, glass shop frontages that draw pedestrians through the site and feature lighting which expose and celebrate the concrete soffit of the building. New signage will also be introduced to create a distinct and visually clear environment and aid way finding.
