First Odeon Luxe Cinema Concept Handed Over

Thursday 6th December 2018

Projex has handed over the first ODEON Luxe cinema concept on a site in Stafford.

The new purpose built, fully-reclining ODEON Luxe cinema delivers a breathtakingly immersive viewing experience and features 423 luxury, handmade reclining seats across six screens including a state-of-the-art iSense screen.

The cinema incorporates the very best in cinematic technology with the 137-seat iSense screen measuring 15m x 6.2m – taller than a double decker bus – and curved to maximise light reflection, packing cutting-edge Dolby ATMOS 3D sound and 4K digital projectors that deliver almost nine million pixels for an even clearer, ultra-high definition picture.  It will triple the legroom and include increased personal space as well as individual retractable tables to ensure the ultimate in-cinema comfort.

Projex was appointed by client LxB to deliver the Stafford project for ODEON, working with a client team comprising MEA, The Harris Partnership and Envision.  The completed riverside scheme comprised demolition of a public house to make way for the new cinema and a 5,000 sq ft retail unit, associated riverside/boardwalk and Section 278 works.

It is part of a raft of leisure and cinema projects the company is working on and director, Barry Graham, says:

“It is fantastic to be part of such an exciting project and to be working with the world’s leading operators to deliver amazing cinema experiences for film fans.”

The company is also working with LxB to deliver the £30m leisure phase of Rushden Lakes Shopping Park, which will see a 14-screen Cineworld complex with Imax technology open later this year.
