With the growth of multiplex cinemas* helping to drive admissions at cinemas across the UK, Projex is delighted to be involved with a number of new schemes for leading operators such as Cineworld and Odeon.
A project for client LxB will bring the ODEON experience to Stafford as part of an all-new luxury cinema.
The project extends a recently completed riverside scheme and involves the demolition of a former public house to enable construction of a new six screen flagship cinema, 5,000 sq ft retail/f&b unit, associated public realm and Section 278 works.
Projex continues its relationship with LxB to deliver the £30m leisure phase of Rushden Lakes, which will see a 14-screen Cineworld complex with Imax technology open later this year.
Three new restaurants have already opened and the leisure phase will include a further nine restaurants as well as recreational amenities such as a climbing arena, indoor golf, soft play and trampolining. Rushden is the only development of its kind in Europe and one of the UK’s biggest out of town developments.
Last year, Projex handed over the £15m, 65,000 sq ft leisure extension at Landsec’s White Rose Shopping Centre in Leeds, which included an 11-screen Cineworld Cinema, also with Imax technology.
Known as The Village, the project has now been shortlisted in the RICS Awards 2018, Yorkshire & Humber Commercial category, in recognition of its status as one of the most innovative projects in Yorkshire and for its positive impact on local communities.
Projex was the appointed project manager, QS and principal designer on the £15m, 65,000 sq ft development, which opened last summer.
