Projex has handed over the first large scale new build PRS development* in Birmingham to developer Link City.

The  344-unit Pershore Street development is the first in the landmark £1bn Smithfields Birmingham regeneration scheme converting the existing wholesale site into 26 acres of mixed-use development comprising retail, leisure, commercial, residential and civic space.

In other residential news, well-established Birmingham developer, Court Collaboration – currently the Birmingham Post’s Small Business of the Year – has appointed Projex on two major residential developments.

As well as overseeing hundreds of new homes being built at Court’s Windmill Hill development in Birmingham, providing cost consultancy and party wall advice, Projex is appointed on Court’s first development in Leeds, a 349-apartment scheme comprising two separate blocks rising to 22 and 18 floors respectively, where Projex is providing full PM, EA, QS and PD services.

In the private residential sector, Projex continues its successful seven-year relationship with Cotswold Oak, having just delivered its tenth major project for Worcester-based oak joinery and construction specialists. This is the latest in over £26m worth of high end bespoke residences across the Midlands with cost planning currently being undertaken for a further six possible projects.

Director Barry Graham comments: “Projex is well-placed to continue supporting clients of all types and sizes across the buoyant residential sector and we are currently looking at a number of new opportunities in the Midlands, Yorkshire and London.”

*Projex’s appointment on Pershore Street follows its involvement in the successful conversion of an 11-storey commercial office building into 55 residential apartments on behalf of SHP Opportunity Fund General Partner Limited, which is widely acknowledged as the first completed PRS scheme in Birmingham (completed June 2016).
