A bespoke manufacturing scheme for a leading drinks manufacturer, featuring 35m high bays and using specialist clad rack techniques, has been handed over by Projex.
The scheme is part of a £100m investment by the manufacturer on an existing site in Rugby that will step-change the company’s manufacturing capability.
The contract with System Logistics on behalf of the international drinks company has already led to further appointments in Matlock for a separate international food and drinks company.
This new 140,000 ft2 automated warehouse is on target to be fully operational by October 2020 and features the latest clad rack warehouse technology. The project is currently in the pre-construction phase and Projex are co-ordinating and managing the preferred contractor and their design team to ensure the client’s deliverables are achieved.
Projex was appointed to provide cost consultancy and project management for both schemes and is appointed on a range of developments from bespoke projects like Rugby to major speculative warehouse developments such as a 1m ft2 scheme for B&M in Luton in conjunction with DLA architects and Mountpark’s first speculative development in Ireland.
In other news, Projex has been project monitoring two industrial schemes in Bury St Edmunds and Warrington on behalf of the global investment manager and developer Mountpark Logistics respectively.
Developer Jaynic Developments has built two industrial units totalling 350,000 ft2on part of the former RAF Bury St Edmund base and is now known as Suffolk Park. The project had a construction value of £12.8m. Projex was appointed in April 2018 with work starting on site early May 2018 and completion achieved November 2018.
At Mountpark’s Omega South development in Warrington, Projex was appointed to project monitor on four separate speculative units and associated wide infrastructure works.
Unit 1 was handed over early December 2018 and is now occupied by Royal Mail. A further three units comprising just over 400,000 ft2 were handed over earlier this year.
