Working Well Together Mock Trial – Corporate Manslaughter Case

Tuesday 6th March 2018

Send to colleague

Projex’s Chris Thomson is vice chair of the North & West Yorkshire branch of Working Well Together and is pleased to announce their next mock trial event – Corporate Manslaughter.

This mock trial is loosely based on a real corporate manslaughter prosecution following the death of an employee after a fall from height.  The company and three of its directors were prosecuted for gross negligence manslaughter.

The trial follows the format of the ‘morning from hell’ and takes approx 3.5 hours to run.

At the end of the session, delegates will understand both the law on corporate manslaughter and their personal responsibility under Section 7 Health & Safety at Work Act 1974. They will understand how a number of apparent minor oversights by individuals can lead to 1) a tragic incident; and  2) individuals becoming criminally liable.

The event also includes a detailed analysis of the new guidance on the sentencing of corporate manslaughter and health & safety offences.

Tickets are £50 per person, which includes breakfast sandwiches & refreshments on arrival.
